The stars on this flag represent the Original 13 Colonies.
This flag was flown from June 14, 1777-May 1, 1795.
By law, stars must be added to the flag the 4th of July directly after the State is introduced into the union. All of these original US Flags with applique stars ARE legal to fly at any time.
